FOERSTEL, Vernon A. Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Saturday January 19, 2013. Beloved husband of Myra Foerstel (nee Eckhard) for 64 years. Dear father of Perry (Janel) Foerstel and best grandpa to Ryan. Dear brother to the late Madonna (Carl) Garnatz and Virminette "Sis" (Ralph) Hammann. Our brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle and dear friend to many. He was a very active member of St. George Catholic Church, serving as a head usher, a member of the Eucharistic Chapel, St. George 50 Plus Club, the infrastructure maintenance committee, Knights of Columbus Council 4099, American Legion Post #111 and was a member of the Board of Directors of Wilbur Park. Vernon served his country in the Pacific and in the Phillipines during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Services: Funeral from JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS 10:30am Tuesday to St. George Catholic Church for 11:00am Mass. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Church, the charity of your choice or Masses may be offered. VISITATION MONDAY 3 to 8pm. January 21, 2013
