Bollman, Vernon A., of Saint Louis, Missouri, was born to Albert and Verna (nee Brueggemann) Bollman and fell asleep in Jesus on Monday, October 31, 2022, in his hometown at the age of 84 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 51 years, Grace A. (nee Groh) Bollman, his brother, Allan Bollman and his brother-in-law, Herb Beck.
He is survived by, his devoted children, Shelley (Robert) Krutsinger and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Bollman, his beloved grandson, Jacob Bollman, his sweet sister, Darlene (Ned) Gillilan, his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ruth (Thomas) Christmann, Jan Beck and Billy Beck, his nieces and nephew, Kathy (nee Gillian) Mack, Cindy (nee Gillian) Wolf, and Ryan Bollman, other relatives and many friends.
Vernon served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps stateside from 1957-1960, receiving an Honorable Discharge as a Corporal E-4 in El Toro, CA. He returned to civilian life and attended 8 years of night classes at SIU-E from which he received a B.S. degree in Business in June 1969. He served his community as a long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church in the following committees, Early Childhood, Scholarship Fund, Trinity Cemetery, Elder for 34 years, New Membership, Usher Team, Health & Safety, and Men’s Club. Vern served his family professionally in the Human Resources field at McQuay Norris for 23 years, Gusdorf for 14 years, and finally with Provident Counseling for 8 years until he retired at the age of 64. He volunteered as a driver for Lutheran Senior Services for many years. He grew up on a farm and enjoyed going back for deer hunting and playing around. He loved doing yard work around his home. Vern decided to sell his home and move to Bethesda Terrace apartments in July of 2021. There he found familiar faces from church and met new friends as well. He had a wonderful time visiting with others, playing cards, and eating with his good buddies Tom and Walt. The three of them always looked like they were up to something. Jo his neighbor is very supportive of Veterans, and he enjoyed her patriotism. The Bethesda Terrace team and residence were like an extended family to Vern. He adored his stay there although it was short lived. Vern enjoyed eating peanut butter out of the jar, finding Tax Write-offs and the investing in the Stock Market. He touched many lives and was truly loved by everyone. His warm smile, selflessness and cheerful heart will be remembered always. Semper Fi

Visitation, Tuesday, November 8, 2022, from 9:00 am until time of Service at 10:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church, 737 Barracksview Rd., St. Louis, MO 63125. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
