Thomas Patrick Lamb, Jr., age 57, died of complications from Type 1 Diabetes on July 23, 2016, at his home in St. Louis, Missouri. Tom (Tommy to many) is survived by his children, Michael Patrick (21) and Sophia Grace (17); his spouse of 28 years, Paula Gaertner; his mother, Lily Marie (Farotto); and his sisters, Janet Lamb (m. Dan Sohn, daughters Hayley and Cecily), Jeannine Lamb (m. Mark Shade) and Ann Lamb; nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Patrick Lamb, Sr. Tom was born on April 22, 1959. He was baptized into the Catholic faith and later joined the Lutheran Church. He attended Mary Queen of the Universe and Oakville High School. He graduated from Missouri Institute of Technology in 1979 with a degree in Electronics. Much of Tom's career was in the telephone/IT industry and he was one of the pioneers in fiber-optics. He continuously educated himself to stay current with changing technology and spent the last decade contracting his IT knowledge to large institutions. Tom loved family gatherings, cooking, and playing family games. He was a critical component to the trivia tournaments the whole family enjoyed. Tom was extremely proud of his children, loved the many hobbies he shared with each of them, and rarely missed any event they were involved in. Tom always had a history book by his bedside and loved all genres of music, Elvis, and Blues Hockey. Diabetes shadowed many years of Tom's life. However, his family and friends will always remember his opinionated, dry, and intelligent sense of humor. As much as he was known for his wit, he was also compassionate and had a keen sense of justice. All are welcome to attend a celebration of his life at a memorial scheduled for Sunday August 7, at 3 pm at the Thomas Dunn Learning Center (3113 Gasconade St. St. Louis, MO 63118). Tom's remains will be buried with his father's in Resurrection Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Michael and Sophie or to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Epiphany Lutheran Church, 4045 Holly Hills Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63116 followed by a gathering at the Thomas Dunn Learning Center, 3113 Gasconade, St. Louis, MO 63118 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
