Piper, Stewart Gordon. Passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2015 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Charlene (nee Grotefend) for 62 years; proud father of Steve (Beth) Piper, Randy (Lori) Piper and the late Craig (surviving Beth) Piper; grandfather of Kalinda (Mike), Larissa, Braden, Stacey (Joe) Bates, Kelsey, Alex, and Matt; dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Stewart is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Sonian and Veda Fawn (nee Hutton) Piper. Stewart was a proud United States Army Veteran of WWII who fought at the Battle of the Bulge, and a founding member of the local Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge Chapter. He enjoyed golfing and horseshoe pitching in his retirement. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Kidney Fund or The Mission Continues are appreciated. Services: Family and friends will gather at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road (63129), 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, for procession to and committal service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery VISITATION: TUESDAY, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
