Mary “Sally” Adeline Keene passed away peacefully on February 7th 2022. She was 95. She was the youngest of 5 children born to Jack and Grace Hill in Pinckneyville, IL. Her siblings Eugene, Helen, and Ruth preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister Roberta “Birdie”.
Sally met the love of her life Paul H. Keene when she was in primary school. They were married in 1946 until his passing in 2014. They were never far apart, and were an admirable example of loyalty and faithfulness. They have one son Michael Keene (Teri) of Columbia, MO and two grandchildren-Sean and Jack. Family was always important to her. She was tremendously proud of her boys and wasn’t afraid to show it! The Keenes also claimed Marty and Jackie their adopted children, and loved them dearly.
Sally went to beautician school in St. Louis right out of high school. She owned her own shop for over 50 years and continued to cut hair into her late 80’s! She treasured the friendships that developed from her business. Many clients became like family to her.
Sally and Paul were founding members of Bayless Baptist Church in St. Louis County. Throughout their many years there, they were blessed with faithful friends who helped build them up emotionally, physically, and spiritually. You’d find them in the fifth pew, right side of center. It was their ‘home’.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to either the Stuart House in Centralia Missouri where they care for the elderly with earnest compassion or the Alzheimer’s Association.
