Ruth Zipay

Ruth Lorraine Zipay (nee Kucera) died peacefully into her Savior's arms on the morning of Monday, April 19, 2021 surrounded by family. Ruth was born on October 18, 1931 in St. Louis. Missouri to John and Katherine Kucera (nee Izo). Ruth graduated as salutatorian from McKinley High School in St. Louis, Missouri in 1948, from Lorain Community College in 1977 and from Baldwin Wallace in Berea, Ohio in 1979. She received her colloquy and Lutheran Teacher Diploma from Concordia College in River Forest Illinois in 1988. She received a divine call as a Lutheran school teacher to Holy Cross Lutheran School in St. Louis, Missouri. Then she received a divine call as a Lutheran school teacher to St. John’s Lutheran School in Arnold, Missouri. She was a member of St. Lucas Lutheran Church in St. Louis, Missouri.

Ruth is survived by her children Nicholas John (Patricia L.) Zipay, Mark Christian (Rita M.) Zipay, Ruth Katherine Zipay, Rebecca Ann Zipay, and Rev. Joel Steven (Laura J.) Zipay; grandchildren Patti Terry, Rebekah Zipay, Sarah (Charles) Barton, Christiana Zipay, Mark Christopher Zipay, Julie (Matt) Beck, Katherine (Brian) Zipay Gass, Anna Zipay and Naomi Zipay; great-grandchildren Caleb Terry, MaKayla Warner, Emma Warner, Jason Warner, Isaac Barton, Sophie Beck and David Beck; many other nieces and nephews. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, father of her children, Rev. Nicholas Zipay, Jr. and her siblings, Katherine “Kate” Shebik, Emily Susnic, Marie Fabry and Rev. John Kucera. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church (7100 Morganford Road)

Services: Visitation Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 9am until time of service at 11am. Both at St. Lucas Evangelical Lutheran Church (7100 Morganford Road). Interment Our Redeemer Cemetery.
