Roy Dressel

Dressel, Roy R. entered into rest on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at age 91. Beloved husband of the late Ruth A. Dressel (nee Fuchs). Beloved father of Karen (T. Dwaine) Sell, Joy (Bill Brinkhorst) Dressel and Yvonne (Kelly Caton) Dressel. Dear grandfather of Rev. Amelie Sell, Ashley Sell, Ida Sell, Beqi Brinkhorst, Will Brinkhorst and Allison Brinkhorst. Dear great-grandfather of Abbie, Audrey, Eddie, Liam, Lucia and Harvey. Dear mentor of Frank (Lynn) May. Dear special grandfather of Cheryl and David. Dear special friend of Marge Moussette. Dear brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and dear friend to many. Raised on a farm along Gravois Rd., Roy valued family, dedication and hard work. As a WWII CBI Theater Veteran, Roy was an adventurous and energetic world traveler, visiting every continent but Antarctica. He proudly worked for General American Life Insurance Company for 29 years, rising from accountant to Vice President. As a lifelong member of St. Lucas United Church of Christ (UCC), Roy served his church and the UCC denomination tirelessly at every level, including Moderator of Missouri Conference and President of St. Lucas Church Council. He also served as: President of Gravois Kiwanis Club and Friendship Village Residents Council; Board Member of Deaconess Hospital, Programs for Religious Activities of Youth, and Gravois Bank; and member of Sappington-Concord Historical Society and the Sunset Hills McDonald's Breakfast Group. Roy was an admirable man who treated everyone fairly, with kindness and generosity. As time robbed him of his abilities, he handled his circumstances with the same grace and dignity that defined his life. Services: Visitation on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at St. Lucas United Church of Christ, 11735 Denny Rd. (63126) from 10:00 am until time of the memorial service at 12, noon. Memorials to St. Lucas U.
