Rick Joseph Olsen, born to his late father Walter Joseph Olsen and mother Mary Lillian nee Stapleton in Saint Louis City on November 15, 1946, has sadly passed away in Saint Louis on March 11, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
Rick devoted an impressive 43 years of his life to General Motors, finding immense joy and fulfillment in his career. Beyond his professional life, he found solace and adventure as the beloved boat captain of the "Ro Jo Jo Go," creating unforgettable memories for all who had the pleasure of sailing with him.
A man of many talents and interests, Rick was known for his passion for hunting and his skilled craftsmanship. He lovingly built a two-story clubhouse for his children, a testament to his dedication to his family. His love for cars shone through with his ownership of two Corvettes, reflecting his appreciation for fine automobiles.
In the hearts of his surviving family members, including his loving wife Janice Olsen nee Voegele, beloved sons Jeffrey Joseph (Michelle) Olsen and Gregory Joseph (Shanna) Olsen, cherished daughters Kim Collar and Kerri Callahan, as well as dedicated grandchildren Aria, Matthew, the late Ryan, Thomas, and Nicholas, his dear sister Toni (the late Larry) Gunter and sister-in-law Diane (the late Earl) Finney, through his family and friends Rick's spirit lives on, he was a loved uncle and cousin and will be missed by many.
Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects at the visitation service scheduled for March 14, 2024, at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Homes - South County Chapel in St. Louis from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass in Rick's honor will be held at Assumption Catholic Church on March 15, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery at 11:30 AM.
Rick's warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering love for his family will be dearly missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace knowing that he touched the lives of many with his kindness and gentle soul.
