Richard Kohm

April 4, 1939 — May 2, 2019

Peacefully passed away on May 2, 2019 at the age of 80. Loving husband of Linda Lamack Kohm for 57 years. Proud father of Karen (Steve) Butler and Kevin (Lori) Kohm. He adored his grandchildren, Brian (Rachel) Butler, Craig Butler, Jason Kohm and Stephanie Kohm. Becoming a great-grandfather of Caleb Butler was a highlight of this year. Brother and brother-in-law of Bill (Judy) Kohm, Bob (Janis) Kohm, Ken Lamack. Uncle of 3 generations. Friend to many! Rich was born to Harry and Barb Kohm on April 4, 1939. Bill had already arrived and Bob was born a few years later. He loved being with family, the yearly trips to Florida, hunting season, fishing, Boy Scouts and playing his accordion. We met at Cleveland HS and after a long courtship, married at Graham Chapel on June 19, 1962. At that time, he owned a vacuum cleaner store. Karen was born in July, 1964 and Kevin, Oct. 1967. We were now a family, active with school activities, music lessons, scouting, sports and camping and of course, a couple convertibles. We were confirmed at Epiphany Lutheran Church where he was an elder. He became a general aviation pilot and loved flying and instructing. The children grew independent and a move to a new home was made to Lake Tishomingo. It worked as a draw too, to have them bring friends to visit since Rich had a couple "boat toys". A hot tub was added, as was an addition to the house and lots of fun parties, pig roasts, and big family gatherings were hosted. He formed the National Aircraft Appraiser's in 1985 and frequently gave seminars while I was able to travel with him to various cities in the USA. We gained two new children, Karen married Steve and Kevin married Lori. How blessed we are to have them as family. Parties continued and grandchildren, Brian, Craig, Jason and Stephanie arrived. They were a joy and we are so proud of each one. Rich played with them, teased them and most of all loved them with all his heart. Lots of bridge games and golf were played with friends. A health issue caused a move to Walden Ridge where lots of new neighbors were also moving and of course, it was time for more friends and more parties!....There have been motor homes, golf carts, motor cycles, airplanes, etc. though the years. He was known to be: FUN, GIVING, STUBBORN, DARING, LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST, NEVER KNOWING WHAT HE WOULD DO OR SAY NEXT, MISCHIEVOUS, FRIEND OF MANY, AND MY LOVE FOR 57 YEARS. The highlight of 2019 was the birth of a new great-grandson. He was blessed with being able to hold Caleb in his arms and rock him to sleep as he had with his precious children, his grandchildren, his nieces, his nephews... and now he is in the arms of our Lord.
