Richard F. Gruen entered into rest on Saturday November 4, 2023, at the age of 87. Beloved husband of the late JoAnn E. Gruen (nee, Mataya); devoted father of the late Daniel G. Gruen, Jennifer A. (Robert) Tomiser, Christine M. (Michael) Mauer, Jane E. (Andrew) Throm, Carolyn J. (Steve) Kroeck, and Andrew R. (Carrie) Gruen; cherished grandfather to 13 grandchildren; blessed great-grandfather of 2; dear friend to many.

Richard was a U.S. Army Veteran. He had multiple hobbies from fisherman and woodworker to a poker playing enthusiast. He also loved to cook and watch movies and was even known to be a bit of a movie “buff.” Although he may have been known for a variety of things, Richard was best known for being passionate about his family. He will be truly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Memorial Visitation Friday December 1, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the 12-noon at John L. Ziegenehin & Sons South City Chapel 7027 Gravois Ave. St. Louis, MO 63116. Interment in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery following the service, processing from the funeral home.
