Renate Boll

July 18, 1931 — June 19, 2014

Renate Anneliese Boll, daughter of Wilhelm Friederich and Johanna Auguste Henrike nee Mehrtens Michel, was born July 18, 1931 in Albstedt, Germany. She was baptized in infancy and later confirmed her faith at the Lutheran Church in that village where she also received her formal education before immigrating to the United States in 1951. On August 15, 1959 she united with Richard "Dick" James Boll, a St. Louis native, with whom she enjoyed nearly 55 years in the nuptial estate. Besides her loving husband, Dick, she is survived by their son Richard James Boll II together with his wife Ann, currently residents of Wichita, KS. Renate also is survived by her sisters Ericka (Henry) Mundt and Lieselotte Schriewer; her sister-in-law Virginia Boll; her nieces and nephews; Ewald (Susie) Kreikebohm, Rainer Kreikebohm, Jens Kreikebohm, Renate (Sean) Jones, Michael (Alisa) Mundt, Thomas (Heike) Schriewer, Stefan (Nicole) Schriewer, Torston (Weibke) Schriewer, John (Ellen) Boll, Patricia (Robert) Kistler, Linda (Robert) Neff, and David (Beth) Boll alongside numerous grand-nephews and nieces. Further surviving Renate are her esteemed cousins: Christa Jaster, Helmut Wilgerod, Ericka Mittchard, and Fred (Jean) Wolf; close family friends Bertha Grotherr, Helga Schmidt, Alfred Dochnal Jr., Katherine (Chuck) Dochnal Palmer, and Eric (Nancy) Dochnal; alongside other relatives and longtime friends, neighbors and acquaintances. Renate was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law and their spouses: Ursula (Herman) Kreikebohm, Lisa (Ralph) Miller, Willi Schriewer, Walter (Naomi) Boll, William Boll, and Edward Boll; niece Rena Kreikebohm; close family friends Alfred and Marion Dochnal. Upon arrival in America Renate became engaged as a domestic with the Pflager family on Westmorland Place before being employed by Safeco where she remained until sometime after marriage. After her son graduated from high school, Renate obtained her real estate license and was active as a real estate agent until her late 70's. As a trained seamstress and an avid gardener, Renate also enjoyed traveling, dancing with the Liederkranz of the St. Louis German Cultural Society, and socializing with her friends and family. She was a member of the Republican Club and accompanied Dick as an active participant in the Rotary Club during his years as an insurance agent in the Greater St. Louis community. After retirement she and Dick became worshipping constituents at Peace Lutheran Church, St. Louis. Renate enjoyed relative good health until being diagnosed in March 2013 with carcinoma. She subsequently underwent cycles of radiation and chemotherapy. However, despite the best of therapeutic and other medical procedures, alongside the care and attention of her loving family and friends, her condition did not rally. Finally, May 14th she was placed on Hospice with Barnes-Jewish Medical Center, and at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 she quietly departed this life at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 1 day. Following this service she will be interred at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
