Ralph Hochgrebe

Hochgrebe, Ralph William, 78, passed peacefully Thursday February 11, 2016 after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Son of the late William & Vera Hochgrebe. Survived by Sara, his wife of 52 years; son John; brother Bill (Sue); sister-in-law Nancy (Craig) Freels of Centralia, IL and brother-in-law Richard Meyer of Lucas, Ky; Dear uncle of Blake (Jessica) Freels, Nolan (Carrie) Hochgrebe, Ryan (Robin) Hochgrebe and Lindsey Freels; Great uncle of six nieces. He had many special friends, neighbors and former Mizzou baseball players, especially from the '58 & '59 teams. Ralph was retired from General Metal Products/Wozniak Industries. He enjoyed being a substitute teacher at Lutheran South for 16 years. He was inducted into the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in 1988; represented the United States on the 1959 Pan American Baseball Team; was a member of the University of Missouri 1958 baseball team which competed in the College World Series and was a first team All American in 1959. SERVICE: Funeral service Tuesday 10:00am at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection ( 9907 Sappington Rd. ) Interment St. Trinity Cemetery. VISITATION MONDAY 4:00pm to 8:00pm at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS South County , 4830 Lemay Ferry Road and Tuesday at church from 9:00am until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection Debt Fund or Lutheran High School South Baseball Program. February 15, 2016
