Paul Keene

Keene, Paul Howard, 89, longtime resident of St. George, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Beloved husband of Mary "Sally" Keene for the past 68+ years. Proud father of Michael (Teri) Keene. Dearest grandfather of Sean and Jack Keene. Born January 31, 1925 in Pinckneyville, IL, Paul was the only child of Neil and Elsie Keene. After high school he was drafted into the U. S. Navy. He served on the USS Fall River before his honorable discharge in 1946. After marrying, Paul and Sally moved to St. Louis where Sally had lived. Paul worked as a mechanic and body man at Colonial Bakery where he retired after 42 years of service. Paul was a charter member of Bayless Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Officer and Trustee. He and Sally were the familiar faces in the 5th pew. More than anything, Paul cherished his time with family and good friends. He loved venturing to Minnesota every year, where he passed on his penchant for hooking the big ones to his son and grandkids. He was a man of service, integrity, compassion and faith. We will miss him dearly. Services: Funeral Thursday 11:30 am at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS (South County), 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. (63129). Interment J. B. National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Anthony's Hospice or Bayless Baptist Church are appreciated. VISITATION WEDNESDAY 2 - 8 PM. December 17, 2014
