Norma Gabbert (nee Kerner) 96, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2019. As her favorite Bible verse states “This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118: 24.
She was born in Baltimore, Maryland where she lived until 1943 when she married Rev. Roland P. Gabbert who proceeded her in death in 1989. During their 45-year marriage they served together in Missouri Synod Lutheran churches in Baltimore, MD, Newport News, VA, Conover, NC, Otto, NY, and Johnson City, TN. As a loving and devoted wife, she was an integral part of the ministries of those churches. Her strong faith was evident and was always shared through her daily living, her church work and her volunteer work (especially with The American Red Cross). She was loved by family and her many friends who knew her as a fun-loving, ever so positive person who was always a joy to be around.
She was blessed with three children, who will miss her dearly and cherish her love and their sweet memories of her forever:
Elizabeth (Betty) (Vernon) Keune of Hillsboro, MO;
Roland (Karen) Gabbert of Bardstown, KY;
Louis (Beth) Gabbert of Florence, AL.
She especially enjoyed and loved her eight grandchildren:
Mark (Kristen) Roberts; Laura (friend, Marc) Montgomery; Joshua (Laura) Gabbert, Jessica (Michael) Smith; Erin (Jon) Lindberg; Whitney (fiancé Josh) Gabbert; Sabrina (Thomas) Tessereau, and Vernon F. (Natalee) Keune.
She had more little ones to love as she leaves 15 great-grandchildren.
In her memory donations can be given to: Salem Lutheran Church or Concordia Seminary
