Nicholas John Emht Jr., son of Nicholas J. Emht and Earlean T. Piva (stepfather David J. Piva), passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30, 2019. Beloved husband of Betty J. Emht (Hart), loving father to Nicholas J. (Cheryl) Emht, Christine L. (Doug) Kennedy-Wybenga and devoted grandfather to Madison C. Kennedy, London A. Kennedy, Andru N. Emht, Samuel A. Emht, Maggie M. Emht and Johl J. Kennedy Jr.; dearest brother to Darlean Marchbanks (Jim), David G. Emht (Michelle), Laverne Vismara, Sharon Bellinger (Brett), John D. Piva (Gail), Diane Snodgrass and David J. Piva Jr. Nicholas was born on November 26, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri. He grew up Lemay, Missouri until age 10 and then moved with his family to Memphis, Tennessee where he enjoyed his youth riding his horse and watching the once known minor league baseball team, the Memphis Chicks. Nick's love of baseball expanded even more when he moved back to his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. His passion for the game developed into a lifelong hobby of collecting baseball cards, memorabilia and actively watching and following the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1966, Nick enlisted in the United States Air Force and was deployed to Vietnam shortly thereafter. Nick and Betty were married in March of 1968 while he was serving in the military. They lived in Victorville, California where their first child (Nicky) was born. Two years later the family of three moved back to St. Louis where their daughter (Christine) was born. Nick was employed by McDonnell Douglas and was honored to work on the original space program. Soon after, he embarked on a new career path which led him to working for Union Electric (Ameren) where he remained for the next 33 years until retirement. Nick was a kind, gentle soul and was loved by many. He was a loving husband, devoted father and a special grandfather to six grandkids. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. April 02, 2019
