Loving husband of Nancy (nee Rice) McCafferty; beloved father of Mike (Mallory) and Tom (Carrie) McCafferty; dear brother of Patrick (Kathy) and the late Kevin (Lisa) McCafferty; dear brother-in-law of Theresa Clark, Joe (Dee) Rice, Maureen (Mike) Wrobel, Bill (Lori) Rice, Joan (Jim) Schwarz, Tom (Anna) Rice, Peg (Bill) Seliga, and Ellen Sippel; dear uncle of Brendan and Ryan McCafferty, and Dan and Shannon McCafferty, Kevin (Jamie) Clark, Sarah (Tommy) Mattern, Catherine (Colin) Flanagan, Colleen (Chad) Doles, Kelly (Matt) Pelt, Joey (Carrie) Rice, Jeff (Alex) Rice, Tracy (Damian) Rice, Ann (Mike) Ebner, Megan (Travis) Meyer, Michelle (Todd) Kuerz, Billy Rice, Chris (Christine) Schwarz, Matt Schwarz, Jamie (Pat) Teuth, Erin (John) Stamm, Nick (Nichole) Seliga, Julie (Clark) Taylor, Jack Seliga, Tim (Aurora) Sippel, Ben, Sam, and Rose Sippel; dear son of the late Louis and the late Iris (nee Smith) McCafferty; dear son-in-law of Mary Rice and the late Joseph Rice; loving dog-dad to the late Rudy McCafferty and grand dog-dad of Luna McCafferty; dear cousin, great uncle, great-great uncle, and friend to many.
Mike was considered the “King of Schollmeyer”. He had the gift of gab. He had a special love for dogs and never met one that he did not love. He was the former owner of A Cut Above Tree and Landscaping and went on to start MTM Trucking, which still operates today.
Mike’s family encourages anyone who has a funny story about Mike to share their story here in the “condolences” section. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society- Our Lady of Sorrows.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20th from 4-8pm at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons Funeral Home (7027 Gravois Ave, St. Louis, MO 63116). Funeral Mass on Monday, September 21st at 9am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (5020 Rhodes Ave, St. Louis, MO 63109). Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
