Jones, Michael Darrel asleep in Jesus on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at age 53. Michael was born on April 19, 1957, son of Robert C. and Marian L. (nee Kohlauff) Jones, in St. Louis, MO. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Soulard, in infancy and later attended Kindergarten through 8th grade at Messiah Lutheran Church were he confirmed his faith in 1971 on Palm Sunday. In 1975 he graduated from Lutheran High School South. He later received an A. A. Degree from Forest Park Community College, St. Louis, MO., in Automotive Technology. On May 20, 1979 at Graham Chapel, Michael married Diane Clare Hilgert with whom he experienced 31 years in the nuptial estate. Diane Survives together with their children: Natalie Michelle Jones (fiancé Daniel Mirbaha) and Alexander Michael Jones. He also is survived by his mother, Marian Jones; his mother in law, Bernice Hilgert; his brothers, Edward C. Jones and Joseph D. (Donna) Jones, his brother and sister in laws, Brenda (Russell) Lauer, Jeffrey (Susan) Hilgert, and his step mother, Phyllis Jones. He is further survived by his uncle and aunts, Kenneth (Betty) Jones and Helen Hilgert; his cousins, Gary Jones, Theresa Lutes, Debby (David) Herzog, Susan (Ronald) Moore, and Georgia Smith; his nieces and nephews, James Fischer, Robert Jones, Scott (Katie) Lauer, Mark (Sara) Lauer, Emily Lauer, Brittany, Grant and Clayton Hilgert. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert C. Jones, and father in law, Raymond Hilgert. Mike's career as a service writer, auto mechanic, and/or service manager, was with various area automotive dealerships, especially, Stivers Lincoln Mercury and Dave Sinclair Ford-Lincoln-Mercury. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW). He greatly enjoyed the logistical, mechanical and technical aspects of his work and was widely known and highly respected for his automotive expertise. Mike accrued a loyal base of customers through his reputation for honesty and high ethical standards in the automotive industry. As a quiet, unassuming individual, Mike had numerous friends and was widely known and cherished especially for his "fix it" and "repair it" abilities. He will long be remembered as a loving and supportive spouse and father, a professing Christian, an obliging friend and neighbor, an energized and accountable employee, an approachable soul always willing to reach out to help others. He became a member of Peace Lutheran Church in 1992 and has since diligently attend Men's Thursday Bible Class and served as n usher for the worship services. Mike had a special interest in World missions and evangelism. In August, 2010, Mike became an instructor in the Small Engine/Motorcycle Division at North Technical High School in Florissant, MO. After over 30 years of service in the automotive industry, he decided to change his profession. It was his hope to "make a difference" in the lives of the students he taught. The Jones family and friends will gather for a time of visitation on Monday, January 3, 2011 from 10:00 am to the time of the funeral service at 11:55 am Monday at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS Funeral Home (South County) 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. (63129), 314 894 8444. The funeral services conclude at the funeral home and there will be a private family burial at a later date.
