Melvin Midkiff, retired USMC Sargeant passed away on September 13. 2024 at the age of 82 years. Loving husband of Gloria Midkiff (nee Thrasher). Beloved son of the late Charles and Della Midkiff. Devoted father of Vicky Midkiff, Don (Cyndi) Midkiff, Cecil Dale Midkiff, Craig Midkiff, Dale (Kirstie) Dean, and Jeannie (Miles) Anderson. Cherished grandfather of Heather, Josh, Kayleigh, Kellie, Jessica, Jamie, Alyssa, Nick, Blake, Breanna, Maya, and Evan. Beloved Great Grandfather to 18 and Great-Great Grandfather to 2.

Mel proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, completing two tours in the Vietnam War. Mel was a devoted ScoutMaster, a respected Freemason, and an active lifetime member of the Lemay VFW Post 4223. After being honorably discharged, he dedicated 30 years of service to the Bi-State Development Agency.

His greatest joy was found in the cherished moments spent with his beloved children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, love, and warmth. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.

In Mel’s honor we will hold an evening visitation on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 4pm to 8pm at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County Chapel. We will also have a visitation Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 9am to 11am at the funeral home, followed by the funeral service beginning at 11am. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 12:30pm. The family welcomes everyone to a reception immediately following the Interment at VFW 4223 215 Military Road 63125.
