Mary Snodgrass

Snodgrass, Mary Jane (nee Hock) passed peacefully on Sunday, August 16th at age 60. Beloved wife of John Brian Snodgrass for 39 years and business partner for 25 years. Dear mother and mother-in-law of David (Songzi) Snodgrass, Daniel (Maribeth) Snodgrass, and Jeffrey (Melissa) Snodgrass. Proud 'Nai Nai' of Dylan, Sofia, Dorothy 'Dori', Samantha 'Sammi', Patrick, Maria and Celine. Daughter of Robert and the late Dorothy Hock (nee Linsenmann). Sister and close friend of Judy Peckham, John Hock (and the late Sarah), Nancy (Mike) O'Keefe, Debbie (John) Gray, Peggy (Matt) Manuel, Joanne (Phil) Giljum, and the late Don Hock. Sister-in-law of Gary (Mary) Snodgrass, Steve (Kathryn) Snodgrass. Dear aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend to many others. Mary told it like it was, but always with a perfect dose of her sarcasm and wit. She didn't search out the spotlight, but others were drawn to her. Her sense of humor kept you on your toes, and sustained our family through it all. She was unlike any other...unique gem. She was a fighter. She was a true friend. She LOVED her family and was LOVED back wholeheartedly. Her endless list of hobbies included cooking, travel, puzzles, games, and all creative arts: music, theater, illustrating, writing, and painting. Mary's sewing blossomed into an entrepreneurial career when she established Designs in Thread (Later Image Design Group) in 1989. Mary's creative mind powered the business that she and John managed together for nearly 20 years as it grew from a small retail monogram shop (next to Ted Drewes) into a commercial embroidery and screen-printing factory. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cancer Support Community at 1058 Old Des Peres Road, St. Louis, MO 63131 where Mary spent hours each week in yoga, art, fitness, cooking, writing, and other classes. Funeral Friday, August 21 starting with a 10:15 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home followed by procession to St. Stephen Protomartyr Church for 11:00 A.M. Mass. August 20, 2015
