Then taken to Hope United Church of Christ 6273 Eichelberger St. Louis , Mo. 63109 Tuesday February 14, 9am until service time 10am. Interment Private. Donations to Hope United Church 6273 Eichelberger St. Louis Mo. 63109 Appreciated. Mary Ann was born in Highland, Illinois. She moved to South side of St. Louis and spent most of her growing up years in a four family flat off of Osceola. She always talked warmly of those years, as her best friend, also named Mary Ann, lived next door. She began her working career at the GM and O Railroad and developed life-long friendships with her co-workers who still continued to meet monthly for lunch despite there only being a couple of the original group still available. One year after Charlie Mikusch returned from serving in the Army in Korea, Mary Ann and Charlie got married on May 14, 1955. They had 2 sons, David and John, and Mary Ann was a stay at home Mother. She immersed herself in volunteer activities such as PTA, room Mom, school fundraising and served as a Band Parent chaperone. She worked very hard supporting her sons in Boy Scouts and her husband, as he volunteered as a Scout Leader. In 1985 Mary Ann and Charlie bought a cabin in Hillsboro, MO at Lake Wauwanoka. After remodeling the cabin, she hosted numerous group barbeques and enjoyed sharing her special place with her special friends. Grandma and Grandpa's lake house also became a special haven for her grandchildren because Grandma was always there with a snack and an opportunity to play cards or a board game. Mary Ann enjoyed traveling and both she and Charlie were fortunate enough to make many trips together. Camping was one of her biggest pleasures and a month long trip to California and back with their travel trailer was a highlight of her traveling adventures. She visited Alaska twice, Hawaii, and most states in between. Numerous trips to Florida and Colorado created special memories with her family. Church played a huge role in Mary Ann's life. She was a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, and held numerous positions on the church council. If there was a dinner going on at church, she was more than likely cooking, doing dishes, or working at the dinner in some other way. If there was an event at church needing a cake, she was right there taking a cake to the event. Mary Ann lived her life in the service to others. She was selfless, loving, and generous. She was a major influence on her whole family, especially her grandchildren. There were always cookies in the cookie jar for visits and even dog biscuits in the cabinet for her grand-dogs. Mary Ann personified love. There is a hole in our family which will never be filled. We're grateful that she is at peace and look forward to the day when each of us will be reunited with her in God's Kingdom. Mary Ann leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Charlie Mikusch and 2 sons, David (Cheryl) and John (Robyn). She was Grandmother to 5 Grandchildren, Andrew, Adam (Jana), Matthew, Meghan (Alex) and Emily. She also loved her kids' dogs, Sparky and Daisy.
