Mary Chapman

Chapman, Mary Ann (nee Seliga) Age 86 Passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2018. Baptized into the Hope of Christ's Resurrection. Beloved wife of 54 years to the late James W. Chapman. Loving mother of Dr. James G. (Merriem) and Daniel G. (Lauren) Chapman. Proud grandmother of Elise (Chris) McNamara, Mary Grace, Kenna, Gwennia, Mackie, and Patrick Chapman. Dear sister of Clifton Jr. (Doris) Seliga, and preceded in death by her sisters Cleonise Meiburger, Joan (Gregory) Sommer, and twin sister Patricia (William) Lehmann. Preceded in death by her parents Clifton Sr. and Rose Seliga. Dear aunt, great-aunt, and friend to many. Mary was born in St. Louis, lived in Milwaukee for many years, and returned to be near family in St. Louis. The past four years she resided at Laclede Groves. Mary graduated from St. Elizabeth Academy. Mary lived life to the fullest with zest and treasured her time with family and friends, especially time spent at "the farm." Mary was a Master Gardener and provided over 20 years of dedicated service to the Missouri Botanical Garden Horticultural Answering Service. She also volunteered at the Campbell House Museum. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling, biking, and crafting. Mary will be remembered best as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her vivacious personality, adventurous spirit, and humor will be missed by all. Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 8th from 5 to 7pm at John L Ziegenhein & Sons Funeral Home, 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. Tuesday, Oct. 9th service begins at Funeral Home at 9:15am followed by 10am Mass at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 670 S Laclede Station Rd. Interment and Christian Burial at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Missouri Botanical Garden or Cure of Ars would be appreciated by the family. October 08, 2018, Monday
