Marvella Lester

Marvella Barbara (Gibbs) Lester, was born March 15, 1934 in Salem, MO. to Irvine and Barbara (Bailey) Gibbs and passed away August 5, 2022.  She was married to Orren Lester in November 1953, who passed away in April 2017. They shared more than 63 married years together. Marvella is survived by 2 siblings, step-brother Dennis (Opal) Gibbs and step-sister Vicky (Gibbs) Gray. Loving mother to Debbie Franklin, Michael (Pat) Lester, Karen (Brian) Kowert, and Patty (Jim) Olsen. She was the dear grandmother to Jamie Olsen and dear step-grandmother to Judith and step-great grandmother to Lyla, Luke, Ellie, Evelyn and Emily. Marvella worked at Famous Barr when she moved to St. Louis. While raising 4 children, Marvella later worked for Orren when he co-founded Lester & Randolph, CPA. She also spent many years working at Gateway Apparel. She was actively involved in her church, St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Oakville and spent many years preparing lunches for various church functions. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Oakville (5508 Telegraph Rd) on Saturday August 13, 2022 with the service following at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.
