Marlyn Graudin

December 15, 1928 — December 28, 2015

Marlyn Elinor Graudin (nee Bangert) was born December 15, 1928. She departed this life on December 28th, 2015 at age 87. Marlyn was the youngest and last surviving child of eight born to Otto and Marie Lix Bangert. Marlyn was baptized in Webster County, NE, on January 13, 1929. She was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Warrenton, MO, April 5, 1942. Marlyn was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, St. Louis, MO. On June 24, 1949, Marlyn and Arthur Graudin were married in Warrenton, Missouri. During the time of their courtship, Marlyn always told the story that Art ran after her. He got off the bus stop one stop too early, ran to the next stop and was there waiting for Marlyn when she got off the bus. Also, during their courtship, Art, who was attending Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, had to go on a yearlong vicarage. Before he left, he went to a local florist and filled out 52 cards and had one red rose and a card delivered to Marlyn once a week. At their wedding, each birthday and every anniversary since, Marlyn has received one red rose. In her early years, Marlyn worked the lithograph for Lutheran Laymen's League (LLL). She took on the role of Pastor's wife when she and Art moved to Indiana in 1950 for his first call. When Marlyn moved to St. Louis in 1974, she became active in the Seminary Guild, attended Preacher Basketball games and began volunteering at the Re-Sell-It Shop. The occasional volunteering turned into Marlyn running the Re-Sell-It Shop. Countless hours were dedicated to ensuring that students and their families would have clothing at a reasonable price. Yearly, a large Christmas sale and furniture sale were held. Many current Pastors and their wives recount how "Mrs. G" helped them when they were struggling students. In 2013 Marlyn was presented with the Christus Vivit Award from Concordia Seminary St. Louis, for her over 25 years of volunteering at the Re-Sell-It Shop. Marlyn is survived by her loving husband, Arthur; her four children, Dave (Leslie) Graudin, Debbie (Pastor Andy) Keltner, Elisabeth (Pastor Michael) Teuscher and Mark (Julie) Graudin; 8 grandchildren, James (Heather) Keltner, Joe Keltner, Katie (Travis) Becker, Kelsey Keltner, Jeremiah Teuscher, Nathanael Teuscher, Jacob Teuscher and Matthew Teuscher; 4 step-grandchildren, Ben (Robin) Bryant, Beth Bryant, Tim Bryant and Sarah Bryant; 1 great-grandchild, Travis Becker, Jr.; 3 step-great-grandchildren, Alexis Bryant, Tyler Stewart and Jared Stewart.
