Margie Tippett

Margie Lee Tippett (nee Stover). Jan. 6, 1932 - Feb. 9, 2019 Margie Lee Stover Tippett joined her beloved husband Jack Tippett in Heaven on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019. She went peacefully and daughters Sally and Barb were with her all day, along with son-in-law Rob. Their grandchildren all made special visits in recent days. While we will miss her, there was a great group of angels waiting to welcome her including Jack, their daughters Judy Tippett and Nancy Tippett, granddaughter Anne Schiller and her parents, Hazel and Warren Stover. Those of us on earth who will miss her include daughters Sally Tippett Rains (Rob), Barbara Tippett, and Gloria Tippett Jones (Ray). Margie and Jack's grandchildren were the light of their lives and could always bring a smile: Robert Jack "B.J." Rains (Karen); Mike Rains (fiance Lori Johnson); Ruth Loeffler (Kevin); Joan Turner (Patrick); Deborah Jones; Rebekah (Fred) Brewster; and great-grandchildren Naismith and Nelson Rains; Mia, Nora and Stella Turner; and Wrenley Loeffler. Margie loved her sister Pat (Douglas) Sleade and three nieces Karen, Laura, Cheryl and their families. Margie was a wonderfully fun, thoughtful, person with a heart of gold and her many friends will miss her. She grew up in Farmington, Missouri, but spent some childhood years in Marceline, Mo. and Cape Girardeau. A cheerleader at Farmington High School with her best friend Nancy Eaton (Newton), the two took off for St. Louis where they went to nurses training at Jewish Hospital. As a young nurse at Jewish Hospital she met the handsome Jack Tippett who was a resident, training to be an orthopedic surgeon. He was still in school and funds were tight so she paid the $2 for their marriage license but years later he wrote her a check and paid her back. The check remained taped to her mirror for the rest of their time together. Margie was a board member of the South County Y-- instrumental in starting the current facility. She served on the board of the Christmas Carols Association. She volunteered at the Humane Society of Missouri as well as non-profit for the hearing impaired. A founding board member of Rainbows for Kids, Margie served as the treasurer for 15 years. As a tribute to Margie, in lieu of flowers, her choice would be Rainbows for Kids. Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019 at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons Funeral Home on Gravois from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. (7027 Gravois Ave, St. Louis, MO 63116) with private burial. It will be a celebration of what would have been Margie and Jack's 64th Wedding Anniversary and their daughters request guests join us in wearing party clothes. A spring memorial service is being planned for Margie. The tentative date for the memorial service is June 29, 2019. Wednesday, February 13, 2019
