Leslie “Bud” C. Schaefer passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Friday, January 3, 2025; Son of the late Leslie Schaefer and the late Myrtle M. Schaefer nee Perry; dedicated husband of Nora Schaefer nee Rudkin; beloved father of Debra (Rob) Storr, Robert “Bob” (Diane) Schaefer and William (the late Angela) Schaefer; loving grandpa of Mark J. Barthelmass, Meaghan (Bryan) Ostendorf, Derek (Chelsea) Storr, Brad (Allison) Storr, Nikki Storr, Katelyn (Austin) Seibert, Ryan (Paige) Schaefer, Jacob (Alexis) Schaefer, Scott Schaefer, Sarah (Spencer) BoisClaire, Zac Schaefer; cherished great-grandpa of Viola, Jackson, Lincoln, Charlotte, Binni, Victoria, Cooper, Colton J., Virginia, Colton R., and Sophie; preceded in death by grandson Matthew Schaefer; Bud is survived by his siblings Jerry (Sharron) Schaefer, Bill Schaefer and preceded in death by his siblings John Schaefer, Terry Schaefer, Karen Martin and Betty Wright.
Bud was an Air Force veteran who proudly served his country with honor and dedication. He was a long-time employee of Monsanto and retired from Pfizer after over 35 years of service. He had a passion for the great outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, and gardening. He loved traveling and spending time at the casino, always ready for a new adventure. His love for country music and the Saint Louis Cardinals baseball team was well-known among his family and friends. Bud found peace and joy sitting under the gazebo, visiting with his neighbors while relaxing and taking in the beauty of nature.
Above all, Bud was a family man. He deeply loved his family and treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren. His 54 years of marriage to the love of his life, Nora, were filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Their enduring love and commitment to each other were an inspiration to all who knew them.Bud's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be remembered for his kindness, his adventurous spirit, and his unwavering love for his family. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Rest in peace, Bud. Your memory will forever be a blessing to those who knew and loved you.
