Frie, Larry D. entered into rest on Monday, May 1, 2017, at age 76. He was a SLPVA Member and retired on September 24, 1994. Beloved husband of Marda E. Frie (nee Herman). Dear father of Lawrence Eugene Frie, SLMPD Police Officer, third generation and the late Baby Boy Frie. Lawrence is the grandson of Marda's father, the late Peter Herman, retired SLMPO and the late Edith Herman. Larry was the son on the late Lewis Carman Frie and Iva Francis (nee Glasgow) Frie. Larry was born on November 10, 1940 and was raised on a small farm where the Kinamore Slough flowed through and not far from Antioch in the Bootheel of Missouri, near Cardwell. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Lewis Frie, DVM, a sister, Shirley Frances Frie (Summitt, Queen and Hill) and son, Baby Boy Frie. Larry was graduated from Cardwell High School in 1958 and left the farm to serve in the U. S. Air Force from 1959 to 1963. At your expense got to go on a site seeing tour of Morocco to view the edge of the Sahara Desert's barren waste, scorpions under each rock and feel the hot air during the day and the cold at nigh--thanks. Larry was graduated from Missouri State University, Kirksville, MO, in 1976. He served as a police officer in the SLMPD from October 23, 1964 to October 24, 1994, in the Third, Fourth and First District of St. Louis City--a mere thirty years and one day--meeting some of the very best and finest men and women in St. Louis Blue and many others, all friends. In the Third District in 1965, he got to patrol around the old St. Louis City Hospital and the student nurses' residential hall, where he had the privilege and honor to meet a beautiful nurse, date and marry her--his first wife, Marda--for five decades plus of blessed wedded bliss. In post police retirement, Larry got to work the rest of his remaining years and finally retired in 2013. He was a proud member of the St. Louis Police Retired Veterans and the American Legion. Larry says, "To all, I want you, friends and acquaintances, to know we had one good time! God bless you and yours, always." Services: Visitation at JOHN L.
