Kevin Cernich

d. October 26, 2009

Cernich, Kevin G. "Bubba", baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection peacefully at the tender age of 43. He was at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 after a long, courageous, hard fought battle to beat the cancer that overtook his body in April, 2007. Best friend, soulmate and fellow Cardinal fan for 20 years of Heather Cernich (nee Waddle), beloved son of the late Ralph V. and the late Dolores M. Cernich (nee Lauberth), son-in-law of Rev. Charles and Carol Waddle and the late Janet Waddle (nee Niehaus), incredibly awesome, loving and admired brother and brother-in-law of Ralph G., Mary (Brad) Buchek, Dan (Laura), Paul (Susan), Laurie Nance, Mara (Mike) Dupske, Robyn (Scott) Byrd and Holly (Ben) Zweifel, proud and devoted mentor, advisor and life coach to Mauro, Juan, Amanda, Emilia, Tim, Ashley, Rachel, Amy, Monica, Joshua, David, Kelly, April, Scott, Ryan, Samantha, Katie, Katherine, Drew and Nicole, adoring candyman and playmate to Nathan, Nicholas, Lilly and Landon, loving and cherished nephew and cousin, loyal, joyful, amazing and lifelong friend to many. He never met a stranger. Kevin was an inspiration to all who knew him and met him, especially family and friends who shared his journey over the past two and one-half years. He had a quick wit, knowledge of all sports, useless trivia facts, pack rat, passion to entertain and constant love. His will to survive never faltered. Kevin shared his philosophy for living with all - live each day passionately and compassionately and "it is what it is". He will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Services: Funeral Wed. 11:15AM from John L. Ziegenhein & Sons (South County), 4830 Lemay Ferry Road, 63129 to Seven Holy Founders Church for 12:00 Noon Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday 3 - 9 PM.
