Kenneth Lawson

Kenneth Dare Lawson died December 8, 2010 in Herculaneum, MO. He was born May 12, 1934 in Clinchport in Scott County, Virginia, was the son of James 'Jim' Lawson and Zora Bell Lawson (nee Benton). He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Lochiel Lawson (nee Epperson) of Festus, MO, his daughter Beverly Leah (Randy) Meyer of Fults, IL and two sisters, Emogene (Rufus) Rhonton of Church Hill, TN and Volena (Everette) White of Nickelsville, VA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother James Lawson, Jr. and a sister Juanita (Emory) Lane. Ken graduated from Rye Cove High School in Scott County, VA and spent four years in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. After his service in the Navy he received a BS degree from East Tennessee State University at Johnson City, TN, after which he enrolled at the University of Florida from which he received a MS and a PhD in Chemistry. He then accepted a job with the Procter & Gamble Company in Cincinnati, OH where he spent 31 years in the Research Department. He retired from P&G in 1995 and he and Evelyn moved to Festus, MO to be near their daughter Beverly and her husband Randy Meyer. Kenneth had a love for genealogy, and after his retirement, wrote several books about his Lawson, Jones, and Benton ancestors, as well as the ancestors of his wife Evelyn, and other related families of Scott County, VA. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010 from 10:30 am until the time of the funeral service 11:45 am at the chapel of JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS (South County) 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. St. Louis, MO 63129. Interment will follow at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. December 10, 2010
