Walt, Kay Suzanne (nee Kirchman) of St. Louis, MO., born January 26, 1943 in St. Louis County, MO, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 at Southview Assisted Living in Affton, MO.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Charlie Walt; her mother, Edna Coleman; her father, William Kirchman; her step-father, William Boekesch; her brother, Robert Boekesch; her brother-in-law, Kevin Theisen; and her infant great-niece, Paige Hoggard.

Surviving are two sisters, Jeanne (Wayne) Clark of Freeburg, IL and Mary Theisen of Alton, IL; sister-in-law, Dana Boekesch of St. Louis; nieces, Lori (Kel) Sandheinrich, Spring Inniss and Elissa Boekesch; nephews, Michael (Monique) Baltz, Tom Baltz and Josh Boekesch; great-nieces, Megan Kleinschmidt and Sophia Baltz; great-nephews, James Baltz and Ryland Parks; great-great-niece, Tyler Kleinschmidt.

Kay attended Southwest High School then obtained her teaching degree from Harris-Stowe State College.  She later received her Masters Degree in teaching at Webster University.  Her last teaching job was at Gardenville Elementary School in south St. Louis.

After leaving teaching, she attended Webster University for a degree in computer studies.  She was a computer programmer and teacher at AAA until retiring in 2007.

Kay was an active member of Concord Trinity United Methodist Church and prior to that attended Church of the Open Door.  At Concord Trinity UMC, Kay served on several committees, was a well-loved greeter on Sunday mornings, taught women’s bible studies, and was a member of Cutting-Edge Card Makers.

Kay’s favorite hobby was gardening and she was a master—belonging to Webster Garden Club and served as secretary.

With her husband Charlie, she loved to entertain family and friends at their home on Towne South. Being kind and generous were Kay’s trademarks.  She will be dearly missed.

Memorials to Concord Trinity United Methodist Church, 5275 South Lindbergh , St. Louis, Mo (63126) or the Alzheimer’s Association are appreciated.

Services:  Visitation on Monday, July 18, 2022 at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS FUNERAL HOMES (South County), 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. (63129) from 8:00 am to the time of funeral service at 10:00 am.  Interment at J. B. National Cemetery at 11:15 am.
