Schmittgens, Joseph G. Jr. Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of 64 years to Joyce M. (nee Werner); loving father of Christine (Ray) Lorenz, Mark F., Mary Ellen (Dennis) Gipson, Eric (Cely), Carl (Maureen), Claire (Mason E.) Laster, and Katheryn (Mickey) Scimeca; grandfather of 20; great-grandfather of 6; brother of Leo (Mary Carol), Eugene Sr. (Mary Beth), Mary Agnes (the late John) Pudlowski, Annette (Ron) Wucher, Catherine (the late Jule) Elz, Joanne (the late Roy) Schlenk, Claudine (David) Wucher, and the late Helen Richter and John (Dolores); brother-in-law of Maureen (the late Jim) Werner; dear uncle, cousin, and friend. Joseph was a proud Army veteran, president of the Cleveland High School Dads' Club, and retiree of Monsanto. He was a long time member of St. Cecilia Parish, where he was active in the Men's Choir and a volunteer at the Parish Credit Union. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Cecilia or to the St. Agatha Center Food Pantry. Services: Leaving JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS, 7027 Gravois Ave (63116), Tuesday 9:30 a.m., for 10:00 a.m. Mass at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church. Interment at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
