Kunkel, Joseph A., Jr. Died peacefully at home on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at the age of 94. Beloved husband of the late Mary (nee Hoffmann); father of Joseph (Mary Beth Nygaard) Kunkel III, Theresa (BK) Larson, Dorothy (Lowell McClune) Kunkel, Thomas (Cheryl) Kunkel, and Mary Ellen Everding; grandfather of Sam and Ben Kunkel, John Shirley, Kristy Rose, Dianna Adams, Andrew Everding, Rebecca Starr, Melanie Kunkel, and Chad Hehner; great-grandfather of Emma, Timothy, Luke, Bridget, Savannah, Gabby, and Brayden; brother of Dorothy (Gene) Bradford and the late Mary Agnes (Henry) Koke; dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend, and neighbor. In lieu of flowers, memorial Masses preferred. Joe was a proud WWII veteran (USMC), U.S. postal clerk, and beloved south-side pretzel man. Services: Tuesday, 9:30 a.m., from JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS FUNERAL HOMES, 7027 Gravois Avenue (63116) to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for 10:00 a.m. Mass. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
