April 9, 1925 — March 7, 2014

BERNSTETTER, JOHN ALBERT , III on Friday March 7, 2014 at age 88. Baptized into the hope of Christ's Resurrection. Beloved husband of JoAnn E. Bernstetter (nee Taylor). Dear father of Patricia (Stuart) Valentine, Barbara Jacober, Frances (William) Lucchesi, the late John Bernstetter, Susan Davis, Michael (Karen) Bernstetter, Michelle, Kevin and Timothy (Dana) Bernstetter. Dear brother of Betty Barnes. Grandfather of 23 and great-grandfather of 19. Our uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend. John volunteered to serve in the US Navy Armed Guard during World War II. He worked for the Optical Union and then as Chief Security Officer at South County Mall where he was known as "Papa John." He retired from the St. Louis County Library-Oak Bend branch where he was custodian for 10 years. He bowled in the Senior Olympics for 21 years and was a member of the Hardee Boys Breakfast Group. John belonged to VFW Post 2593. SERVICES: Funeral Service WEDNESDAY 10:15 am at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS SOUTH COUNTY, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. VISITATION TUESDAY 4 to 8 pm. If desired, donations may be made to Hope Hospice or the St. Labre Indian Mission. March 11, 2014
