Denzel, Jerome A. 80, of Lebanon, MO passed away on August 29, 2022 after a long battle with COPD. Jerome (Jerry) was born on November 23, 1941 in St. Louis, MO to Alfred and Christine (nee Vancura) Denzel. Cremation has been accorded.
His parents, his brothers Eugene and Charles, and his sister-in-law Helen preceded him in death.
He is survived by his beloved son, Jason (Sarah) and adored grandson, Brayden as well as Jason’s mother, Maurene and his sister-in-law, Jane and his long-time friend, Diane Bailey. He was a loving uncle to Mary (Jeff) Sundermeyer, Cathy (Jeff) McDougall, Donna (Michael) Brooks, John Denzel, Lisa (Michael) Eaton, Wendy (Brian) Solovic, Michael Denzel, Lisa (Michael) Glynn, and Laura (Aadip) Desai. The Anderson’s were also like a second family to Jerry in Minnesota. He also leaves behind many great-nieces and nephews, one great-great nephew, cousins and friends.
Jerry graduated from Bishop DuBourg High School, the University of MO at Rolla with a BS in Chemical Engineering and an MS in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University. His career took him to Greece and Australia before returning to the US to work in Environmental Engineering in Minnesota. He was married to Maurene Hagen for 22 years. Upon retiring, he moved to Lebanon, MO.
Jerry loved all aspects of nature and spent many years traveling to enjoy fishing, boating, canoeing, camping, snorkeling, and hiking. He enjoyed playing cards (especially bridge), photography, music and spending time with his family. His zest for life and his deep caring manner will be missed by all who knew him.
Memorial Service to take place on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM with a visitation prior at 10:00 AM at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63129. Private interment of ashes will take place immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery.
