Jennie Clanahan

Clanahan, Jennie (nee Calza) entered into rest on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at age 98. Beloved wife for 61 years of the late James V. "Virgil" Clanahan. Beloved mother of Karen Clanahan, Dr. Jim (Lynne) Clanahan and Beth Clanahan. Dear grandmother of Michael, Julie and Kristine Clanahan and twins Viktor and Alexander Sime; "second mother" to devoted caregiver Andrea Abbott; loving "Mom" to four-legged daughter, Ruby. Jennie and her late husband lived in Herrin, IL for many years before moving to south St. Louis County in 2001 to be closer to children and grandchildren. The daughter of Italian immigrants Giovanni & Caterina Calza, Jennie was a dedicated and much loved junior high and elementary school teacher for over 25 years. In addition to her children, her passions were reading, her pets and the St. Louis Cardinals. Services: Visitation at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS (South County), 4830 Lemay Ferry Road (63129) on Friday, March 11 from 4 - 7 pm and Saturday from 9 am to the time of funeral service at 10:00 am. Interment Saturday, March 12, with 1:00 pm committal service at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton, Illinois. If desired, memorials in Jennie's name to Zeigler First Baptist church, 106 S. Pine, Zeigler, IL (62999) or to the Home 2 Home Canine Orphanage, 2549 Hogan Rd, Pacific, MO (63069) are appreciated.
