Jeannine Y. Ferguson, a cherished resident of The Baptist Home in Ironton, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on February 24, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jeannine was a beloved figure in her community and an extraordinary individual whose legacy will be remembered by all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Jeannine was known for her talent and creativity as a colorist, specializing in oil portraits. Her artistic endeavors were complemented by her role as a devoted mother. Jeannine's passion for life extended beyond her craft; she took great joy in the simple pleasures that came from spending time with her family and friends. Her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to cross her path.
Jeannine's commitment to her loved ones established her as a pillar of strength and affection within her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Clifton N. Ferguson. Jeannine is survived by her dearest children, Cheryl (Michael) Floerchinger, Gregory (Cathy) Ferguson, Paul (Missy) Ferguson, and Jeffrey (Missy) Ferguson, as well as her late son, Kenneth (Sharon) Ferguson, whose memory she cherished deeply. She was a proud grandmother to Christopher (Lori) Floerchinger, Jennifer (Steven) Dingess, Amy Wendling, Mark Ferguson, Robert (Rose) Grimm, Christopher (Amy) Wolf, and Stephanie (Craig) Sayer. In addition, she was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren who brought her much joy in her later years. Jeannine also shared many loving moments as a dear sister, aunt, and friend to numerous individuals throughout her life.
A member of Tower Grove Baptist Church in St. Louis, Jeannine’s faith played a vital role in her life. After her retirement, she devoted her time as a usher at the Fox Theatre and also volunteered at Hosea House through Catholic Charities, embodying her commitment to helping others in the community. Jeannine also found enjoyment in bowling and traveling throughout her lifetime, pursuing lifelong adventures with her signature enthusiasm.
Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Lester and Edna (nee Accola) Layton, whose memory she honored in the stories she shared with her family.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation, which will be held on February 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Tower Grove Baptist Church, located at 4257 Magnolia Ave, Saint Louis, MO 63110. A funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 11:15 AM, and concluding at 12:15 PM. Jeannine will then be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 1:15 PM.
Jeannine Y. Ferguson will be remembered for her unwavering love, her artistic spirit, and the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey. May she rest in peace.
