Jeanne Beckring

August 8, 1926 — February 13, 2015

Beckring, Jeanne F. (nee Garthoeffner) on Friday, February 13, 2015 at age 88. Baptized into the hope of Christ's Resurrection. Beloved wife for 61 years of the late Leonard Beckring, Sr. Beloved mother of Mary (Vincent) Daus, Leonard W. (Sue) Beckring, Jr., Margaret (Bill) Plumley, Ann (Raymond) Karasek and Robert (Linda) Beckring. Dear Grandmother of 9, great-grandmother of 10. Dear sister of George Garthoeffner. Graduate of Notre Dame H.S., member of Serra Club and a dedicated volunteer. Jeanne was born and raised in south St. Louis. She was the oldest of 3 children. Mary Lou and George were her siblings. She attended Our Lady of Sorrows grade school and Notre Dame High School. She enjoyed sports and played field hockey in high school. After high school, Jeanne worked at the GM&O Railroad; This position gave her the opportunity to travel with her friends. She met her husband, Len, and married in 1950. Jeanne and Len raised 5 children. She was very involved in their school work and a dedicated mother. She always had time for us, always ready to lend an ear when needing to talk. Mom enjoyed sewing. She made many an outfit for her children and herself. She spent many hours with dad volunteering at our schools. I remember dad helping with the math homework and mom helped with spelling, geography, and English. She helped us all with many an assignment. She would always quiz us before our tests. Mom continued to keep up with her grade school, high school and GM&O friends through reunions, luncheons and gatherings. She and dad loved spending time with their friends. Mom was an awesome cook and taught us all how to make her specialties. Some of our fondest memories were ice skating, swimming, biking, going to the zoo and just learning how to be a family. She was very dedicated to all of her children and very proud of them. The most amazing thing about mom, was that through all of our mishaps, spats, victories and sorrows, she was always patient. Never was there a word of anger or discouragement. Our Lord blessed mom with 9 grand children and 10 great-grandchildren. She LOVED each one of them and could sit and play or just watch them for hours. Mom was very faith driven and very devoted to Our Blessed Mother. The 5 of us, Mary, Len, Marge, Ann and Bob, will never forget mom's reply to - "What's for dinner?" She would just say, "Oh, its something good". If we caught her napping, she replied "Just resting my eyes". Thanks for all your love, guidance and sacrifices. We will miss you MOM, but the memories will never be forgotten!
