Jeaneanne Wallen Risk, 85, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Friday, September 13, 2024. Daughter of the late Olie Muriel Phillips and the late Helen Frances née Ravenscraft; sister of the late Iris Kendall; Loving wife of the late Sam William Risk; Cherished mother of Vickie (Rich) Birkenmeier, the late Gary Wallen and Toni (Carol) Wallen; beloved grandmother of Brent Birkenmeier and Blake Birkenmeier; devoted great-grandmother of Kaiah Birkenmeier and Bowie Birkenmeier; with special mention of the Birkenmeier family who accepted her as their own grandma.
Jeaneanne leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth and dedication. Born with a heart full of kindness, she was known for her exceptional skills in sewing quilts and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that will be cherished by many.
Jeaneanne had a passion for hosting dinner parties and collecting red wine, a hobby she shared with her late husband, Sam William Risk. Sam was not only her partner in life, but also her soulmate and the love of her life. Together, they created countless memories filled with joy and laughter.
A devoted member of St. Raymond’s Church, Jeaneanne found great joy in cooking and working at the church, especially in making meat pies and cabbage rolls for various church functions. Her culinary talents and generous spirit gave rise to her as a beloved figure in the church community.
Jeaneanne was also a dedicated mother of three. She lovingly cared for her son, who was blind, until his passing at the young age of 53. Her unwavering support and care for him were a testament to her strength and compassion.
Active in the Women’s Club, Jeaneanne enjoyed the camaraderie and realized the importance of building strong friendships. In her younger years, she loved venturing out to Las Vegas, embracing the excitement and adventure of the city.
Above all, Jeaneanne was a wonderful grandmother, leaving behind a family that will forever remember her love, wisdom and the warmth she brought into their lives. Jeaneanne Wallen Risk’s life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and joy. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy will continue to inspire and comfort those she left behind.
In honor of Jeaneanne's life we will be holding a visitation at 9:15am -10:45am on September 23, 2024, at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons County Chapel, followed by mass at 11am at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Parish. Interment will be at 12:45pm at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated by Missouri School for the Blind, in honor of her late son, Gary.
