James Tobias

Tobias, James "Toby" R. Asleep in Jesus on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Rosemary (nee Hansen); father of Tom (Kim Commack), Mark, and Jana McGinty; grandfather of Emily, Nathan, and Leah Tobias, Eric Tobias, Elizabeth Bartley, Katie Kesling, and Michael McGinty; great-grandfather of four; dear brother; uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Jim grew up with five siblings during the thirties in Huntington Indiana, was stationed in Korea for a two year stint in the army, went to college at Valparaiso University, and then in 1953 married the love of his life, Rosemary Hansen. Shortly after, Jim and Rosie's three children were born during stays in Decatur and Quincy, Illinois. In 1965, Jim's career took the family to St. Louis, where he became a sales manager for Fred. T. Lowy Flooring Company. Jim was a leader who inspired a loyal sales force. His many co-workers remember him fondly as more than a boss; he was also a friend and mentor. The arrival of his beloved grand-children and great-grand children were great joys. "Tobe" is greatly missed by all who loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Services: Family and friends will gather, 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of service, 10:00 a.m., at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8646 New Sappington Rd (63126).
