Clanahan, James V. "Virgil" entered into rest on Monday, October 26, 2009 at age 93. Beloved husband for 61 years to Jennie Clanahan (nee Calza). Beloved father of Karen Clanahan, Dr. Jim (Lynne) Clanahan and Beth (Mark) Sime. Dear grandfather of Michael, Julie and Kristine Clanahan and twins Viktor and Alexander Sime. Loving "Dad" to four-legged daughter, Maggie. A proud WWII Navy Veteran, Virgil was stationed in Pensacola, FL and served in Puerto Rico and Brazil. He was a dedicated certified public accountant for over 40 years in Herrin, IL. His passions were caring for his wife and nurturing plants in his vegetable and flower gardens. Services: Visitation Friday, Oct. 30, at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS (South County) 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd, St. Louis, MO (63129) from 10:00am to the time of the funeral service at 11:30am. Interment: Saturday, Oct. 31, 11:00am at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton, Illinois. If desired, memorials may be made in Virgil's name to Zeigler First Baptist Church, 106 S. Pine, Zeigler, IL 62999 or to the Animal Protective Association, 1705 S. Hanley Rd, St. Louis, MO 63144.
