James Bernthal

Bernthal, James W. of Saint Louis, Missouri, was born December 4, 1925 to Otto L. and Christine A. (nee Beck) Bernthal in Osage City, Missouri.  James entered into rest on Friday, May 14, 2021 at the age of 95.

He is preceded in death by his wife Elsie M. Bernthal.

James is survived by his Five (5) children, Carol Williams, Jean (Greg) Imhof, Michael Bernthal, Nancy (Tony) Avena and Jeff (Barbara) Bernthal, four (4) grandchildren, Ryan (Melissa) Imhof, Christine Avena, Becca (Justin) Haun and Elise Bernthal, five (5) great grandchildren, Lilly, James, Henry, Thomas and Aubrey, many other relatives, and friends.

James was a faithful, devoted, steadfast, loving, and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He will be remembered and truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks those wishing to honor his memory donate to NAMI of St. Louis or the charity of their choice.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 11:30 a.m. until funeral services @ 12:30 p.m. all at the John L. Ziegenhein & Sons South County Chapel, 4830 Lemay Ferry Road.  Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery will be private.
