Jack Tippett

January 18, 1925 — August 20, 2017

Jack Champion Tippett passed away peacefully in his sleep at home, with his Cardinals shirt on Aug. 20, 2017. He was 92 years old. He was the husband of his true love Margie (Stover) Tippett, and father to five daughters. Besides Margie he leaves behind daughters Barbara Tippett, Sally Tippett Rains, Gloria Jones (Raymond), cherished son-in-law Rob Rains and treasured grandchildren: Ruth Loeffler (Kevin), Joan Turner (Patrick), B.J. Rains (Karen), Mike Rains, Rebekah Brewster (Fred) and Deborah Jones as well as great-grandchildren Naismith Rains, Nora Turner, Mia Turner and the three babies who arrived just in time to meet him: Nelson Rains, Wrenley Loeffler and Stella Turner. Jack was met at the gates of Heaven by his daughters Judy Tippett, Nancy Tippett and granddaughter Annie Schiller. He valued the Sleade Family, Denver cousins, and so appreciated cousin Laurie Wasserberger for visiting from Wyoming this month. Jack was an orthopedic surgeon who performed the second surgery at Cardinal Glennon Hospital and he served his country proudly in the Army Air Corp in World War II. He was thrilled to be able to take an Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C. on Veterans Day in 2015. The family would like to give special thanks to our dear friend and physician Adam Fitzgerald and everyone at St. Anthony's Hospice. Another great thanks goes to Lesia Waggoner for being such a loving caregiver and more than that a friend, as well as Jennifer Wright who helped so much also. Funeral arrangements will be handled by John Ziegenhein & Sons on Gravois. For those wishing to make a donation in his honor, his two favorite charities were Rainbows for Kids and Greater St. Louis Honor Flight. He was a founding Board Member of Rainbows for Kids. (Rainbows for Kids 7221 Waterford Drive St. Louis, MO, 63123) Rainbows for Kids is a 501 (c)(3) charity dedicated to helping families of children with cancer. He also appreciated those at Honor Flight (Greater St. Louis Honor Flight, 36 Four Seasons Shopping Center, Box 272 Chesterfield, MO 63017) Jack Tippett was extremely humble and asked his daughters not to go overboard in the obit, so we will respect his wishes. In the spirit of Jack Tippett, do something nice for someone without asking for something in return, and even if for one day don't talk bad about anyone. He was a great man and will be missed by everyone who knew him. August 24, 2017
