STADER, HELEN (nee Carlton), 86, passed away on, Sunday,` June 21, 2015, the beloved wife of the late Raymond Stader. Dear mother of Theresa (the late James) Oehler and Christine (the late John) Lawrence, and stepmother of Angela (Jim Ziemba) Polson and Cara (Tony Selep) Stader. Loving Gram of Stephanie (Mark) Wobbe, Amy (David) McCubbins, and Anthony (Elizabeth) Oehler; Nina (Steve) Ryan, Craig (Pilar) Lawrence, Mark (Linda) Lawrence, and Brad (Lee Ann) Lawrence; Kristen and Brittany Polson. Loving great-grandma of Samuel, Henry, Julia, and Charlotte Wobbe; Haley and Matthew McCubbins; Makaela, Jackson, Sophia, and the late Olivia Oehler; Lindsay and TJ Douglas; and Zach, Samantha, Melanie, and Justin Lawrence. Helen was born Nov. 23, 1928, the firstborn of the late Ruth (nee Dubbs) and John Carlton, sister of Jack (the late JoAnn), the late Donald, the late Mary Allen, Charles (Franca) Carlton, Marguerite (Richard) Maness, Robert Carlton, Terrence (Sue) Carlton, Dennis (Ruth Ann) Carlton, Linda Oehler, and Richard Carlton. She is beloved great-great grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend -- to people, as well as animals everywhere, especially Miko and Sheba. Helen enjoyed a successful career in the printing industry for 30-plus years before embarking on a rich retirement adventure. In addition to her ongoing vocation as a second home to her grandchildren and eventually her great-grandchildren, for several years she volunteered as a librarian at Notre Dame High School. She was also a devoted volunteer rescuer and foster mom with the Pekin Duck Fund and was affectionately known as "The Duck Lady of Carondelet Park." Helen will be remembered for her boundless generosity, her strict open-door policy, and her creative excuses to give her grandchildren every last dime. Growing up in the movie-houses of Grand Ave., she had a lifelong love of the silver screen, particularly musicals. An animal in need was her friend indeed, and she would go to any lengths to feed, fix, or foster dogs, cats, or any brand of waterfowl. To know her was to love her.
