BUTLER, HAROLD J. (BUD), CLU,ChFC July 18, 1921-March 23, 2010 (88) Beloved husband for 67 years of Leona K (Lee) Butler and dear father of James L. Butler, Bud was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Corrine Butler and his older brother, Roy Jr. He is survived by his widow, his son, and two brothers, William and Robert, his daughter-in-law Diane E. (Feldmann) Butler, three grandchildren, Timothy J. (Laura) Butler, Jeffrey M. Butler, and Julie A. (Eric) Gibbs, and three great-grandchildren, George and Gabrielle Butler and Elliot Gibbs. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren he was their beloved "Dondee." Our dear brother-in-law, cousin, uncle and friend to many, Bud will be missed. As a member of the "Greatest Generation," he proudly served his country in the Navy from 1941-1944 and participated in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. He also served his community with 50 years of perfect attendance in Lions International, where he was past-president of both the Mid-Town and Hampton Clubs, and more recently as a member of the Gravois Kiwanis Club. He was also a 50- year member of the Masonic Order and a Shriner. After World War II Bud chose a career as a sales professional and after many years in the automotive industry, at age 50, he began selling life insurance as an agent for the Franklin Life Insurance Company, which he continued until his retirement at age 80. In 1987, he and his son founded their financial planning firm, Butler Associates, Inc., and it continues serving the financial planning needs of many clients today. Bud and Lee joined St. Lucas United Church of Christ in 1951 and have been faithful Christians and active members there ever since. There will be a Memorial Service celebrating Bud's life, at St. Lucas U.C.C. 11735 Denny Rd. (63126) on Friday, March 26 at 11:00 am. Visitation at the church will begin at 9:30 and continue until the start of the Memorial Service. The Family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the St. Lucas Perpetual Endowment Trust. Online condolences may be left at www.jlzfuneralhome.com. A service of JOHN L.
