Gloria Lea Brueggemann

June 20, 1944 — November 18, 2024

Gloria Lea Brueggemann (nee Stricker), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, at the age of 80. She was a courageous soul who battled Alzheimer’s disease with grace and dignity.

Gloria was born on June 20, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the cherished daughter of Melvin and Goldie (Smith) Stricker who preceded her in death; in addition to her loving sisters, Becky (Keith) Garner, Kimberly (Kevin) Baumgartner, and Susan Stricker.

Gloria was a loving wife to Robert Brueggemann, her devoted husband for 61 years. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. She is survived by her loving children, Kenneth Brueggemann and Kellie Sears, as well as her son-in-law, Andrew Sears Jr. She was a beloved grandmother to Kaycie (Alex) Schulte, Kortney (Kale) Lympus, Kory and Kullen Brueggemann, Andrew and Taylor Sears and a cherished great-grandmother to Theodore and Stella Schulte. She is also survived by her brother, Jesse (Mary) Stricker, and her sisters, Barbara (Robert) Dalton, Debbie (Bill) Braun and Cherrie Stricker.

Gloria was a kind and compassionate woman who touched the lives of many. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and offer words of comfort. She was passionate about reading, gardening, crocheting, quilting, volunteering, at the church and, above all else, loved spending time with her family. She brought joy to those around her through kindness, sense of humor and infectious smile.

The family’s heartfelt thanks to Mari de Villa and staff, and Mercy hospice who watched over her on her final days.
