Glenda Ludwig

Glenda Faye Ludwig, 71, died May 30, 2018 with her daughters by her side in St. Louis, Missouri. Glenda was born in Stanford, AR on June 20, 1946 to Conoy (Jackson) and Alvin E. Gibbs. Picking cotton on the local farms by the age of four, Glenda had the tenacity for hard work and hard decisions. She was forward thinking and a woman of many firsts: From being the first female supervisor at University of Minnesota hospital, to being the first woman to be kicked out of a St. Louis public pool for wearing a bikini. Glenda is survived by her second mother Laura Gibbs; her daughters and their spouses: Michelle (Smith) and Steve Haley, Rebecca (Smith) and Eric Wulff; her brothers Alvin Junior (Debbie) Gibbs, and Joshua Gibbs; her grandchildren Elizabeth Marshall and Robert Haley; her great grandchildren Ryan Hofmeister and Colton Hofmeister along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, great friends and last, but certainly not least, her baby of 14 years: Bella the cat. She was preceded in death by her mother, Conoy Jackson, and her father, Alvin E. Gibbs. We will celebrate her life on Saturday, June 9, 11 AM -12:30 PM, visitation, with a remembrance beginning at 12:30 at The Pat Connolly Tavern (upstairs), located at 6400 Oakland Ave., St. Louis 63139.
