Gladys Viola Hall, age 101, of Kirkwood, Missouri, peacefully passed away on April 14, 2025. Born on November 3, 1923, in Saint Louis City, Missouri, Gladys lived a life rich with love, education, and community involvement.

A dedicated elementary school teacher, Gladys made a significant impact on the lives of her students in Missouri and Cahokia, Illinois. Her commitment to education extended beyond her career as she also served as a substitute teacher and devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mom and housewife for several years. In addition to her teaching career, she shared her nurturing spirit by volunteering in the nursery at Third Baptist Church.

Gladys pursued higher education, attending William Jewell College and Southwest Baptist College before graduating from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. She fostered a lifelong love for knowledge and learning which she imparted to those around her.

An active member of her faith community, she was affiliated with Third Baptist Church, Bayless Baptist Church, and South County Baptist Church, all of which were based in St. Louis, Missouri. Her commitment to her faith was a guiding principle throughout her life.

Beyond her work and service, Gladys enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. She cherished moments spent solving crossword puzzles, sewing, traveling, and watching game shows, especially her favorite, Wheel of Fortune. These activities brought much joy to her life and created beautiful memories that will be remembered by her family and friends.

Gladys leaves behind her devoted family, including her son Steven Hall, her daughter Mary (the late Gary Brit) Rose, her cherished grandchildren Ashley Mims, Alicia Hinsen, Alyce Rose, Katie Hall, and Mackenzie Hall, and her beloved great-granddaughter Raegan Hinsen.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the late Joe Paul Hall, whom she married on July 12, 1958, and her loving parents, Benjamin Calvin and Mary Alice (nee Larkin) Queen.

Visitation will be held on April 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at John L. Ziegenhein and Sons Funeral Homes - South County Chapel, located at 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd, St. Louis, MO, 63129. The funeral service is scheduled for April 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with burial following at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fairview Heights, Illinois.
