July 10, 1923 — January 23, 2017

Geraldine "Gerry" Grote, age 93 of St. Louis, Mo passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017. She was born to the late Geremiah Denham and Amy Tipton Denham on July 10, 1923. Her late sister, Mildred Denham Bergfeld, passed away March 21, 1973. Her late husband, Edward Grote, passed away March, 2015. Geraldine has a living niece, Carol Bergfeld Willian, in Rochester Hills, MI and a living nephew, Paul Bergfeld, Holts Summit, MO. She has a living great-nephew Craig Willian, Rochester Hills, MI and 2 living great-great nephew, Luke Willian and great-great niece, Kiley Willian, Rochester Hills, MI Geraldine lived in South St. Louis her entire life, the last 4 years were at St. Louis Altenheim. She graduated from Southwest High School. Her working career was at D'Arcy Advertising Agency and Dow Chemical Corp. After retiring from Dow Chemical, she was very active as a Docent at the Missouri Botanical Gardens in South St. Louis. She and Ed when both retired enjoyed their cabin at Table Rock fishing and relaxing as well as traveling the US. Aunt Ger was a huge part of mine and my brother's life. She was ahead of her time as a professional woman and brought many fun-filled days to our lives. Paul and I will always remember her bright smile and those brown shining eyes. She will be dearly missed by us. Mrs. Grote also leaves family from her husband's relatives including Dorothy Holm, a niece and Sabin Holm, a great nephew and multiple cousins and their families. Services: John L. Ziegenhein & Sons Funeral Homes, 7027 Gravois. Visitation Tuesday, January 31, 2017 from 11AM to 12:45PM service time. Interment Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. January 31, 2017
