Geraldine "Gerry" E. Riney, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born on July 22, 1938, in Saint Louis, Missouri, and passed away in the same city on April 21, 2025. A graduate of Cleveland High School, Gerry enriched the lives of those around her with her vibrant spirit and deep commitment to her family.
Throughout her life, Gerry shared many joyful moments, including cherished memories from the 1950s when she and a group of friends delighted in going downtown and dancing on the SS Admiral Boat on the Mississippi River. Gerry's passions extended beyond her youthful exuberance; she had a lifelong love for gardening and participated in the bell choir at her church, St. Lucas United Church of Christ, where her warm presence and dedication were felt by all.
Gerry is lovingly remembered as the wife of Lloyd N. Riney, a partnership filled with affection and support. As a devoted mother to Thomas (Suzanne) Riney, Gregory Riney, and the late Terri Flynn, she nurtured her children with love and guidance. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Michael (Hanna Schneider) Riney, David Riney, Tiffany (Tom) Aaron, Jessica Flynn, and the late Melissa Flynn. Additionally, she was a proud great-grandmother of seven, each one a testament to her enduring familial bonds.
Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Beatrice (nee Armour) Blase, who instilled in her the values of hard work and love of family.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Gerry’s life will be held on May 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Lucas United Church of Christ, located at 11735 Denny Rd, St. Louis, MO 63126.
