"We escorted convoys to Casablanca, Rock of Gibralter, Bizerte, Patrolled the North Atlantic searching for Nazi submarines and dropping depth charges, hoping to sink same. When the war in Europe was over, I received orders for Pacific duty – through the Panama Canal to Peal Harbor, Iwo Jima, Guam, Okinawa, Saipan, operated 250 miles form Japan. If the A-bomb had not been dropped, our outfit had orders for Japanese invasion."
