Frances Julia Szerzinski

February 11, 1927 — December 26, 2024

St. Louis

Frances J (Fannie) Szerzinski, nee Haas, made her trip to heaven on Thursday December 26, 2024, at the age of 97. Precious daughter of the late Joseph Haas Sr. and the late Frances Haas, nee Kulisek; beloved wife of the late Harry Szerzinski Sr.; devoted mother of Mark (Patty) Szerzinski and Harry (Peggy) Szerzinski Jr.; cherished grandmother of Angela (Rick) Hanes, Kayla (Zachary) Petzoldt, Alex (Lindsey) Szerzinski, Annalise (Ryan Devaney) Szerzinski, and Nick Szerzinski; blessed great-grandmother of Azalea, Ricky, Gabriel, Charli, Ariana, Oliver, Caden, and Malakai; dear sister of the late brothers Joseph Haas Jr. and Stanislav Haas. Frances is also survived by many other dear relatives and friends.

After graduating from secretarial school, Frances started her career in insurance at Frank Miller and moved up to become a broker. She continued working as a broker at Frank B Hall until she retired. Shortly after she realized she missed working but wanted something different, so she went to work for Polster Lieder Woodruff & Lucchesi LC. as a legal secretary for several more years. Fannie was a caring mother and as her family grew, she stepped into her role as grandmother wonderfully. She always loved cards with her sons she played rummy and 500 rummy. With her Grandchildren the game changed to Kings in the corner. Often, she would deliberately lose the game just to see the children celebrate winning. At The Village at Mackenzie Place Frances found great friends through playing cards even poker.

Frances truly loved the Catholic Church. She was a devout Catholic never missing a day of prayer and active member in several churches St Wenceslaus and a long time parishioner at St. John the Baptist where she sang in the choir. Dancing was also a constant in Frans’ life, jitterbugging as a youngster and square dancing in her later years. Fran was known for her kindness, a warm Christian heart, and positive good nature. She will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciates to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
